One tribe - that of Hapetra - has nicely distributed its huts along the road, on the lawns, in the shade of coconut trees. They settled in the 1920s, when leprosy was rampant in the Peng tribe. The ninety survivors moved to Hapetra. People come here mainly to discover the beach of Peng. Don't miss to go there to laze on this sublime stretch of fine sand! Before swimming in the area, remember to check with your hotel or with the locals that swimming is allowed (it is regularly not recommended or forbidden because of sharks)!
