Bungalows and rooms in a gîte with restaurant and swimming pool in Kuto.

Set back from the beach, by the road, this lodge is a welcoming, fairly comfortable option, and the least expensive on the island. The 3 bungalows and 8 rooms (with bathroom, refrigerator, fan and television) are well maintained and pleasant. The restaurant, decorated with many fishing trophies, serves the famous snails of the Isle of Pines, lobsters and fresh fish caught by the manager who is a fan of big game fishing. For the restaurant, remember to reserve in the morning for the evening. There is also a swimming pool on site.

Loved this place, although I just went there for dinner, recommended by local legend Jean-Noël.

The local snails were really tasty, but the fresh fish fillet was just exquisite.
It's called "Bec de cane" in French, which seems to translate to "longface emperor". A soft, pink coloured fillet that just melts in the mouth. Useless to say that it has been caught in the morning, so it was really fresh.

Then, the desserts were really good too. I tried both the lemon tart and crème brûlée. Both fantastic.

On a funny note, the owner's cats came to claim their share of this fantastic meal. They are well mannered, so they seem to understand when a guest is not interested.
