On the shores of Lake Kivu, this city is quite large but ultimately not very populated. The region is known for its production of tea, cotton and bananas. The main town is called Kamembe. This is where you will find the market, banks, shops, hotels and restaurants. It is also where the airfield is located, with the Rwandair company providing several connections per week to Kamembe. It is also a historical place: one can admire in Kamembe the large ficus symbolizing the departure towards the Congo of King Yuhi Musinga, dethroned in 1931 by the Belgian power. He had reigned since 1895. He died in Moba in 1944.
