The interest of the small town of Cheorwon, at first sight, and even a little luguber, is twofold. First, nature in the surrounding area is completely preserved, offering many outdoor activities during the summer season. But we mostly come to Cheorwon, a city cut in two by the Korean War, to see remnants of this conflict of extreme violence, and approach the DMZ under more agreeable conditions than in Panmunjeon. Is it because Cheorwon defines itself as a city of peace, and waits for Korean reunification?
