Travel Guide Monte De Ombúes

This unusual forest, declared a natural reserve, is located between Cabo Polonio and the Laguna de Valizas (surrounded by the Laguna de Castillos and crossed by the river Valizas). It is the largest expanse ofombúes in the world; one of them would be more than 500 years old! Theombú is a kind of gigantic plant (it looks like a tree) that usually grows alone.In Monte de Ombúes, you can take a guided tour of about 2.5 hours to discover this vast and rare ecosystem. At km 267 of Ruta 10, the Monte Grande agency is located and offers its services to visitors. The visit is done by boat.
