44 kilometers north of Córdoba by route 9, Colonia Caroya is worth a visit for its Jesuit estancia, which has been a Unesco World Heritage Site since 2014. This estancia was the first rural settlement installed by the Society of Jesus, in 1616 to be exact. Today, the town has a little over 20,000 inhabitants, and its long avenue planted with plane trees gives it a certain charm. Colonia Caroya lives on tourism, historical tourism, but also wine tourism. There are now five wineries in the city, all of which have their own small museum and can be visited. Some restaurants stand out for their traditional cuisine.
