A prosperous city since the 19th century, when its port was created, on the route of the ships going to Copenhagen. The many herring smokeries attest to this, one of which is now a museum. One of the attractions of the city, the Gothic church of Ruth, dating from the 15th century, is perched 130 meters above sea level. There is a natural swimming pool in the town's harbor with a diving platform and a large sunbathing terrace. The restaurant Le Port, one of the best on the island, has a breathtaking view of the bay. By car, 15 minutes from Rønne via route 159. By bus, line 1, it takes 20 minutes.
