Casalarreina, a town of 1,200 inhabitants crossed by the river Oja, is worth a visit for its Dominican monastery of La Piedad in the Isabelline-Plateresque style, which has a richly decorated portal and a beautiful 16th century Plateresque altarpiece inside. The village center is classified as a historic site and contains beautiful stone houses with coats of arms, such as the Pobes Palace and the Condestables Palace, as well as sacred buildings such as the San Román de Ajuarte hermitage from the 12th century and the San Martín church. On June 24, on the occasion of St. John's Day, there is a great popular festival where wine flows freely.
