Twenty kilometers north of Kara, near Pya, Kouméa is today the capital of the canton that bears its name. Nestled at the foot of the sacred mountains, this village had been chosen by the French to settle there, but the spirits that inhabit the fetish mountains chased them to another site, which has now become the town of Kara. It is in the village of Kouméa that the first French teaching center was built. The surrounding area offers beautiful landscapes, surrounded by mountains that show their best colors during the rainy season. To recharge your batteries, many hikes are possible.
