This park today named Biosphere Reserve extends over 850 km 2 between 1 829 m to 8 580 m above sea level, Kanchenjunga being the highest point. Considered a hot spot (hot spot) of biodiversity, it is populated with an exceptional flora and fauna. It houses the famous snow panther, which is highly threatened. More than 500 bird species have been identified.
