Travel Guide Thazi

Although Thazi village is not very interesting in itself, it can however be a useful stopover if you travel by train between the Yangon-Mandalay axis and the line that leads to Kalaw and Inle Lake. The train is clearly the choice of the less hurried or the most needy travellers. For the vast majority of travellers, Thazi is the place where the train passes through, usually between Mandalay for about 3 dollars and Kalaw or Inle Lake for about 6 dollars. Ask for the price in dollars and kyats to see which option is the most interesting. Most backpackers opt for the buses that serve most destinations in the region. That said, the train journey, although very long, is also very pleasant in the surrounding countryside, especially to Kalaw where you can travel through beautiful scenery: the train is very slow, so you have plenty of time to enjoy the views of the passing scenery.
