If 165 ha are devoted to white wine, the darling of this region, there are still more than 140 ha producing an excellent red wine. Chassagne is home to 57 Premiers Crus and 3 Grands Crus known throughout the world: Montrachet, Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet and Bâtard-Montrachet. If you come across one of these little marvels, you should know that the recommended storage period is at least ten years, and even twenty years for the Premiers and Grands Crus. It is from here that in 1869, a certain Louis Bachelet emigrated to Latin America. He is the great-great-grandfather of the former president of Chile, Michelle Bachelet.
