Southeast of Marathon, stop at this park (turn off Highway 17 onto Highway 627). It is located midway between the cities of Sault Ste. Marie and Thunder Bay, on the shores of the world's largest freshwater lake. It is a place of exceptional beauty, with panoramic views of Lake Superior and the rugged ancient landscape of the Canadian Shield and northern forest. The spirit of the wilderness lives on in all who choose to visit and explore this unique place. Ontario's only wilderness national park, Pukaskwa protects 1,878 km2 of an ecosystem that includes the boreal forest and the Lake Superior shoreline.
