Cerro Sechín is famous throughout Peru for its ruins discovered in 1937. They take the form of a square building with curved corners, 51 m on each side, decorated with rather impressive friezes cut into the rock: severed heads, begging hands, faces of tortured people. It is not a place in itself, but an archaeological site. The nearest small town is Casma. It is therefore possible to combine the discovery of this site with a day on the beach in destinations much less frequented by foreign travellers. It is only a fifteen minute ride (taxi or mototaxi) between Casma and Cerro Sechin.
