Vaitape is the "capital" of Bora Bora. It is where passengers disembark on the free shuttle from the airport, where people come to shop at the supermarket, withdraw money, and browse in the pearl and pareo stores... Its quay receives both liners and inter-island shuttles, as well as the Air Tahiti catamarans that sail to the motu Mute, where the airport is located. The village square is bustling with activity whenever tourists and cruise passengers disembark - which is often, since Bora Bora has become world famous. In short, Vaitape is a practical place but without any charm. It is much better on the motus or in Matira!
