A peaceful village, just like all the others on the island, except for Matira. You can visit the remains of the Aehautai marae, and slightly further on those of the Manunu marae. Even better: the ascent of the Anau cave, which digs like a cavity into the majestic tooth of Mount Otemanu. Located above the town, it offers a sublime panorama of the lagoon. To get there, hire a certified guide: the final part is a bit rough. Finally, a local pride: Anau has recently been equipped with a very well-stocked U Express store. It also has two convenient gas stations (one on the water).
