Haapiti is a very quiet spot about fifteen minutes drive from the Petit Village and Tiahura. Haapiti, which takes its name from a north-west wind, is particularly popular with surfers. While you're there, don't miss the charming Catholic church of the Sainte-Famille, on the mountain side: with its two square towers, white walls and red roof, it guarantees very pretty pictures. In the background, the view of the Mou'aroa (880 m), Tohivea (1,207 m) and Mou'apu (762 m) mountains is breathtaking. Slightly further in the direction of Hauru on the sea side, the temple of the evangelical church also deserves a photo stop. The Tiki Village is 5 km further north.
