Aïn Benian, which now has a population of 68,000, is the former Guyotville founded in 1844. The municipality is best known for its small tourist area renamed El Djamila but still widely known by its former name, La Madrague. Composed of villas and sheds, a recently refurbished fishing port and beaches, La Madrague is renowned for its excellent fish restaurants, which are very popular on weekends. In the evening, it is its cabarets with dubious attendance, where alcohol flows freely, that attract people.
