Cherngtalay (or Choeng Thale) is a small town with a wealth of shops and businesses of all kinds, as well as two weekly markets on Mondays and Thursdays. Muslims and Buddhists rub shoulders here every day, and there's one of the region's most beautiful mosques. Every October, a Chinese temple hosts some of the celebrations of the colorful Phuket Vegetarian Festival. The Laguna Phuket is a pharaonic real estate complex comprising no less than seven hotels, most of them very luxurious. The whole thing is completely artificial, but you'll have a great time... if you can afford it.
