Covering an area of nearly 60,000 ha, this national park extends largely over the province of Chefchaouen. Between its great biodiversity and its exceptional landscapes, it is the most original ecological entity of Morocco. The mountainous landscape dominates the park, with an important orography with abundant springs. The limestone ridge that constitutes all the park's reliefs represents the most important aquifer of the Rif. This aquifer is of karstic type, resulting in an abundance of avens, caves and lapiaz. The park sector mainly supplies the Mediterranean watersheds, with the constitution of water reservoirs.
