The Simmental valley lies to the west of Lake Thun, between the Niesen pyramid and the Stockhorn, with views of two hundred peaks. Like the Diemtigtal region, it is lush and green, with richly decorated farmhouses, a network of hiking trails and several ski areas. Trails link deep-blue mountain lakes such as Seebergsee, in the Spillgerten nature reserve, and Aegelsee with the protected Diemtigbergli high moor area. As for the Wiriehorn, it's an Eldorado for downhill mountain bikers (with chairlift access). At the bottom of the Diemtigtal, a fairytale trail will mesmerize families.
