"Gourmandise is the exclusive prerogative of man", said Brillat-Savarin, and Michel Simon, the lively owner of Caveau des Arches, advocates it. A few steps, stones and subdued lighting plunge us into the intimate world of a 15th-century cellar. Whether à la carte or on the menu, the cuisine is refined and the dishes perfectly mastered. Fillet of poultry with Epoisses "Berthaut", a dark chocolate moelleux with a white chocolate heart and chartreuse sorbet are sure to tantalize the taste buds. Le Caveau des Arches is a restaurant in Beaune awarded with two forks in the Michelin Guide. You are welcomed in an authentic, warm and friendly setting to discover a fresh, tasty and generous cuisine. In this old cellar of the XVth century, you will find a large choice of Burgundian dishes. For example, you can choose the pan of six Burgundy snails with garlic and hazelnuts, the beef bourguignon with mushrooms and mashed potatoes and the plate of regional cheeses. Traditional menus are also presented on the menu. The velvety pumpkin and scallop plancha, the skewer of rabbit roes with old-fashioned mustard and the vanilla crème brûlée from Madagascar will not leave you indifferent. This restaurant, with its warm and cosy bar, is also distinguished by its beautiful wine list. This one presents a rich selection of Burgundy wines, with the great vintages and the prestigious appellations. The lesser-known wines are also on the list to help you discover new flavors. En revanche, le rapport qualité-prix pourrait être meilleur. J'ai trouvé les prix exagérés pour ce qui était servi (en terme de travail sur les plats et de quantité, par exemple pour le risotto de coquillettes, ou le plateau de fromage avec 4 petits morceaux à 15 €).
On peut trouver mieux ailleurs pour moins cher.
Cela reste néanmoins une belle adresse à Beaune dans un très beau cadre.
