This tropical islands park is a paradise for divers and corals, immaculate beaches, tropical forests and other wonders of the Caribbean Sea. Located on 59 km 2, largely on Saint John and some parts of Saint Thomas, its main attraction is Trunk Bay, which is full of beaches and reefs suitable for diving - unfortunately damaged by overcrowded.Hiking on marked trails across the tropical forest and along the bays, including Cinnamon Bay Trail, along the ruins of old cotton plantations, or on the Bourdeaux Mountain, the peak of Saint John at 390 m above sea level, can be practiced there. There is still the Reef Bay Trail, which captures the sea and island beauties of the Virgin Islands, which passes along sugar mills and near the Taino petroglyphs site.Hurricane Irma, which unleashed on Caribbean islands to Florida for more than two weeks in September 2017, has caused significant damage to the Virgin Islands, where four people lost their lives and most of the buildings were damaged. The national park remained closed for almost 100 days after the hurricane, the most powerful ever recorded in the North Atlantic. What Irma saved, Maria, a second class 5 hurricane, was responsible for destroying him a few days later. Since December 2017, however, beaches and hiking trails are again available in the park, although some accommodations are still closed to the public.
