This national park was the first to be created in Nevada. It is interesting for its forests of conifers - Bristlecone pines - some of which are more than 4,000 years old and are said to be the oldest trees in the world. Twisted by the wind and bleached by the sun, they are the symbol of the region. Great Basin National Park is dominated by the impressive Wheeler Peak, whose summit, at 3,982 m, is crowned with eternal snow.
