The "hot springs" park, centered on the namesake city, is the smallest American park in terms of surface: 22,46 km 2. Initially, it was a federal reserve, the oldest in the country, before it was converted into a national park in 1921. It includes a number of mineral springs, as well as the spa town of Hot Springs. These springs flow from the nearby Hot Springs Mountain, which is part of the chain of the Ouachita Mountains. It is a national park in a particular sense: The sources have not been preserved in their natural state but they have, on the contrary, been framed, as necessary, to maintain the quality of the water so that it can continue to be used in everyday consumption. Its hot springs (61 ° C), the purity of its waters and its thermal resort attract over one million visitors each year. In the th century, Indian warriors bathed there already. Hot Springs differs completely from other national parks. It's easy to visit it, because almost half of the sources are in the city of Hot Springs itself. There is a thermal stay in the city, or follow the hiking trails in the adjacent area. Camping is easy to take in the park. Its kilometres of trails bordered by oaks and hickorys (walnut of America), its high mountains of barely 300   m and its three artificial lakes are almost entirely dominated by the living resort of the same name.
