Travel Guide Reserva La Aurora

Hato de la Aurora is one of the largest private reserves in Colombia, with 9,887 hectares. It is located in the municipio of Paz de Ariporo, in the department of Casanare. Here you can discover the richness of the llanera culture in a cowboy atmosphere. Here, we live like the ganaderos, the cattle breeders. On horseback, on foot or by jeep, we travel through the immense plains of the reserve to follow the cattle and brand them. The land and waterways are explored in search of the anaconda. The main attraction of the reserve is its rich fauna, which is the source of many legends and popular songs. The protagonists are the eagle, the heron, the caiman, the jaguar, or the capybara(chigüiro), the biggest rodent in the world. In the evening, everyone gathers around the mamona, a veal cooked in the embers, while listening to the joropo, the traditional music of the plains. A change of scenery and unforgettable sunsets are guaranteed!
