It is a typical and charming high mountain village. In the centre you can visit the castle-museum of the El Hao fortress, which exhibits many remains unearthed in the deposits of the area, as well as its church located in the village square, rebuilt three times, the last one dating back to 1905. It is also surrounded by exceptional natural sites such as the Caldera de Tirajana, where you can find one of the most beautiful palm groves in Gran Canaria, or the Fortaleza de Ansite. A fortress which is in fact a quite impressive volcanic site and was one of the last refuges of the aboriginal populations in the region.
