Along the Tisza River, about 30 kilometers north of Novi Sad, the town of Becej, with 23,000 inhabitants, is worth a visit. It is an old city, whose traces can be found as far back as 1090. Few traces of this medieval past remain, but the city is not without a historical heritage, with notably a superb central square that puts Catholic and Orthodox churches facing each other. The church of St. George of Becej is the pride of the city, with sublime ornamented interiors, from the Catholic heritage, very rare among the Orthodox. Finally, the city guards the entrance to the DTD canal, for beautiful landscapes.
