Cajetina is a small town that marks the entrance to the city of Zlatibor. It is a curious mixture of dwellings, between village and small town, with a real charm. The existence of the village is known since the uprising against the Ottomans led by Obrenović in the early 19th century. At that time it served as an administrative base for the movement, thanks to its strategic position at the entrance to the Zlatibor mountain passes. Its contribution to the liberation earned it the status (and rights) of a town, effectively becoming the smallest town in Serbia. Today, it is a good alternative to Zlatibor, more expensive and less authentic.
