A beautiful wild island, with black sand beaches, mangroves and a small fishing village on the eastern tip. Here beautiful walks await you on the beaches and paths through the forest leading to the highest point of the island, Cerro Zapote (approx. 300 meters above sea level). A handicraft festival is held at the end of January, and on July 16, the fishermen pay homage to the Virgen del Carmen. Isla Gobernadora is located between Santa Catalina, to the north, and Isla Cebaco, to the south. It takes half an hour to cross from the mainland (Santa Catalina or Hicaco). Around 60 US$ for a one-way trip (to be shared between the passengers).
