Kells Priory is an admirable medieval site, one of the most impressive in Ireland, founded by Geoffrey FitzRobert in 1193. Not to be confused with the famous Kells in County Meath. On arrival, halfway down a valley and along the King's River, stand the fortifications of this12th-century Augustinian priory. This impressive medieval monument is made up of several towers along fortified walls, forming a site of no less than three hectares.Access: Kells, some 15 km south of Kilkenny town. No public transport, but you can take a cab from Kilkenny.
