Watch out for the pronunciation! "Alosse-Corton, a village known for its wines, also has a rich architectural heritage, including three castles: that of Corton-Grancey, whose house dates back to the 18th century and the wine-making parts (cellars and vat room) to the 1830s, that of Corton André, dating from the 19th century, and the one known as Corton, which belonged to the Vergnette de la Motte family and was transformed at the end of the 19th century. Aloxe-Corton, with Ladoix-Serrigny and Pernand-Vergelesses, is one of the most picturesque villages in the region. Charlemagne is said to have owned vines on the hill... hence the name Corton-Charlemagne.
