Located in the extreme south of Zambia, Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park runs along the Zambezi River for 12 km from Victoria Falls. Its surface is only 66 km2. The park is small, so you can drive through it by following the paved road along the river. There is a great diversity of animals: elephants, zebras, antelopes, wildebeest, giraffes, warthogs... As there are no predators, the animals are not afraid and, used to vehicles, they are more easily approached (and photographed) than in the large parks of the country. The excursion in the "national park" is more like a zoological walk than a real safari.Walking safari - white rhino. Mosi-oa-Tunya offers the unique opportunity to see white rhinos in Zambia. These animals, which had completely disappeared from the territory, exterminated by poachers, have been reintroduced in the number of 5 from a South African park. There are currently 8 of them and they benefit from the close protection of the rangers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Two very cute baby rhinos were born in 2022 and they walk alongside their mother, for the happiness of visitors who came to observe them. So, your guide only has to contact the rangers who are permanently at the rhinos' side to join them and take you as close as possible to the groups, 100% guaranteed encounter.Any agency in Livingstone offers this tour (for about 90 US$ all inclusive). You can also bring your own car for a self-drive safari, but without the radio contact with the rangers you will have very little chance to meet the rhinos. It is better to book this tour directly with the park rangers at the office, it is worth it!
