This park, relatively isolated near the Chadian border (Garoua is 140 km away and Ngaoundéré 160 km), with a surface area of 220,000 ha, was created in 1968. It is crossed by numerous seasonal streams and a permanent river, the Mayo Sénaroua. Less popular than the Waza National Park in the far north of Cameroon, which boasts fewer species, it is the last refuge where all the wild animal species of the wooded savannah can be found. Here you'll find lions, elephants, giraffes, 11 species of antelope, including the Derby eland, the largest species in Africa, panthers, hyenas and warthogs.
