Jericó is reached from Andes or Jardín after a 25 km climb, a real ordeal for cyclists. If it weren't for the presence of an ATM and the Internet, you would feel like you were back in the last century walking through the steep streets of this typical Antioquian village. Jericó is known for its carrieles, handmade shoulder bags, for its superb examples of republican architecture and for its unwavering support for regional traditions. It has also become one of the most important religious centers in the country, since Pope Francis canonized Laura Montoya (1874-1949) in 2013, "who distinguished herself by her virtues of generosity, courage, fortitude, faith and commitment to others." The first Colombian saint was recognized for two miracles by the papacy. Her feast day is celebrated on October 21 A documentary film, Jericó, the infinite flight of days, by Colombian director Catalina Mesa (2016) traces the daily lives of eight old ladies from different social conditions, living in the village of Jericó. A poetic and funny film, which pays tribute to women, with moving and colorful portraits. It talks about faith, love, youth and death. The film received the Audience Award and the Best Documentary Award at the Cinelatino Festival in Toulouse 2017.
