To the north of the island of Saint-Pierre, there are two islands linked by a 12 km long sandbar: Langlade to the south and Grande Miquelon to the north. The first is uninhabited, but the second is home to the small village of Miquelon and its inhabitants, almost all of whom are descendants of Basques, Bretons, Normans and Acadians (the latter arrived on the island following the Great Upheaval). Its history is closely linked to the colonization of the archipelago by the Newfoundlanders and the cod fishery. You can choose to visit these two corners of the country on a day trip or stay in Miquelon. A feeling of being at the end of the world guaranteed!
