This is one of the essential steps in discovering Mahé thanks to its two heritage estates, the Val des Prés estate and the Plaine Saint-André estate. While the former offers workshops and craft shops in pretty huts, the latter has the famous local rum distillery, Takamaka Bay, its small shop and a food-truck to eat on the go before or after this must-see visit. Continuing south a few minutes after driving up the road, you arrive at Pointe au Sel, the beginning of a wilder coastline, where fishermen regularly sell their booty on the beach.
