Managed by the Stinasu Foundation, Brownsberg is a paradise for hikers and nature lovers. Created in 1970, the park is located in the north of the central part of Suriname and has a total surface area of 12,200 hectares. Of the 1,000 known plant species, over 85 are rare and endemic to Brownsberg: some trees can even reach 40 m in height. In terms of wildlife, felines and monkeys are the park's most common species. There are no fewer than eight hiking trails, with or without a guide, through a forest that is still threatened by gold mining, hunting and illegal logging...
