The Marienbrücke offers a breathtaking view of Neuschwanstein, the stream below and the Forggensee.
The Marienbrücke (Mary's Bridge), perched in the forest, is a ten-minute walk from Neuschwanstein Castle. Built by Maximilian II of Bavaria in 1845, who named it after his wife, Queen Mary, it overlooks the Pöllat Gorge. In 1866, Ludwig II had the wooden footbridge replaced by an iron structure, giving it the filigree silhouette it has today. The view of Neuschwanstein, the stream below and the Forggensee is truly breathtaking.
