The small town of Duns is very typical of a village in the Scottish Borders. One comes there especially for Manderston House, its Edwardian palace, even if it also has a castle which is not open to the public and its battlefield. Its oldest stones date back to 1320 and it was entirely renovated in a gothic style in the early 19th century. We also like to observe the superb Marchmont House, open a few days a year to the public (to watch on the website) and privatized for weddings and seminars. You can also climb the hill of Duns Law (213 m) for a breathtaking view on the sea and the rich lands of the region.
