This peaceful, busy area is home to a large number of the island's guesthouses, the excellent Italian table at the boutique-hotel Le Repaire and the La Digue Supermarket. A pretty promenade links Anse la Réunion to the inland road. A little-known but pleasant asphalt path runs through a very lush part of La Digue. You'll find it next to the mechanic's workshop opposite the beautiful Sunshine Creole house. It reveals that the island is also inhabited on the land side, with sturdy houses having replaced tin huts in recent years. Here and there, a few calou ladders still climb the coconut trees.
