Abandoned monastery complex on top of beautiful rocks near the entrance to Kumuna National Park. It is not necessary to enter the national park to access it. The site was (re)discovered in 1954. It is also known as Chethiya Pabbatha. This cave site is believed to have been built during the reign of King Devanampiyatissa in the 2nd century B.C. It was established as a refuge for Buddhist monks who wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of the cities. The site houses the last cylindrical stupa on the island.
