28 km north of Batticaloa and 80 km south of Trincomalee. Passikudah is a beautiful bay, a pristine beach that stretches for nearly 4 kilometers. A little further south is the beautiful beach of Kalkudah with azure blue water suitable for swimming and many water sports, and a shallow coral reef. These two famous resorts, which were very touristy until 1983, have experienced a renaissance since the end of the conflict. Mostly luxurious resorts have opened their doors, but there are some nicely renovated guesthouses set back from the bay, in Kalkudah.
