It is the ruins of the former House of Ministers of King Cankili II. The facade of this ancient residence is particularly well preserved despite the lack of maintenance. The date 1890 is indicated on the pediment while the central part could date from the 15th century. For some, this building, which mixes colonial and Hindu architecture, was a part of the royal palace and served as the home of the king's ministers, before being used by the various colonists who invaded the country. Tamil and Sinhalese historians differ on its origins.
