This modest Hindu temple, situated a little away from the noise of the city, does not have the flamboyant colours of other temples. It is said to have been built by Vaitilinga Chettiyar, an eminent merchant whose privileged relationship with the Dutch settlers enabled him to build it. It hosts two events: the Shivan Festival, which ends with the full moon in March, and the Ambal Devi Festival, which lasts ten days and ends on the new moon day in July.
