21 kilometers east of Kilinochchi and 80 southeast of Jaffna. Chundikkulam Sanctuary was established in 1938 and then became a national park in 2015. A wide variety of waterfowl can be found here, including storks, ibises, gulls and terns. The lagoon that makes up the park is bounded by Elephant Pass and Jaffna Lagoon to the northwest, a narrow strip of land along the Indian Ocean to the east, and the small village of Chundikkulam to the southeast. Surrounded by scrub and palm plantations, the lagoon is used for shrimp fishing and salt production. The place is not developed at all for tourism.
