This small fishing town is located at the tip of the peninsula, 46 kilometers northwest of Puttalam and 170 kilometers north of Colombo. Kalpitiya, where the majority of the population is Christian, is known for its old Dutch fort built in 1667 (occupied by the navy and which cannot be visited). As far as accommodation is concerned, a few establishments have opened on the outskirts of the city in recent years, but you will find more choices on the main road and in Kandakuliya. The road to Kalpitiya is in excellent condition, 40 kilometers separating the city from Palavi Junction on the A3.
