Kaisariani is a suburb of Athens that is fortunate enough to be located at the foot of the green Hymittos mountain. While the town itself is of no interest, the Hymittos is a favorite destination for those who enjoy easy mountain walks and mountain biking. Just 20 minutes from Athens, the small cypress-lined road that winds its way up to the monastery of Kaisariani and its surroundings is worth a morning in the green! In a valley lined with pines, plane trees and cypresses, this small Byzantine monastery built in the 11th century is worth a visit. Cypresses stand guard around the church dedicated to the Presentation of the Virgin.
