MANOIR DE LA CHASLERIE
Castles to visit
Read moreLa Chaslerie, Domfront and Lonlay share a common history. The first chaslerie was founded around 1015 by Guillaume I de Bellême, under the authority of the abbey of Lonlay. At the end of the 14th century, Pierre Ier Ledin, Viscount of Domfront (who is said to be the recumbent figure in Notre-Dame-sur-l'Eau church) was the owner. From 1598, René Ledin enlarged the dwelling, while his son rebuilt Notre-Dame-sur-l'Eau. Under the impetus of the current owners, the dwelling, adjoining towers, chapel and outbuildings have undergone major restoration: superb.
