Things to see and do Salla

This national park is located on the Russian border. It is especially known for the Karhunkierros Trail, which is one of the most popular hiking trails in Finland. Here you can observe all the surrounding nature from the park's hilltops, through pine forests and along rivers. It is suitable for both beginners and experienced hikers. Maps and all information for camping sites in the park can be found at the Hautajärvi Visitors' Centre in Hautajärvi. An accessible and resourcing place in the wilderness!

In this beautiful park of Salla Poropuisto, there are about thirty reindeer that can be approached quite easily. For more complicity, you can make a circuit pulled by a reindeer. It is also possible to make a dogsled ride and even in summer by canoe. A beautiful place to visit in all seasons, to experience Finland the way you like it! There are activities for everyone at affordable prices.

This Hautajärvi visitors' center, located on the 82 km Karhunkierros hiking trail, offers a wealth of information on Oulanka and Riisitunturi national parks, as well as on the surrounding nature reserves: maps with routes and ideas for walks, flora and fauna... From here, you can even book guided tours to discover the park. On site, you'll find a café serving drinks and simple dishes.
